Grinding and Mex by Mark 'poker_in_pb' Vargas, Mon. 16 Nov 2009
Nothing too exciting has been going on here. I've played everyday for the past couple of weeks, which is nice to get into that kind of routine. My numbers are nice and average with my adjusted results matching my actual, which is always refreshing for me! To mix things up, Michaela and I just bought some tickets to go down to our place in Mexico (south of Cancun) for a week. The internet is usually great there, plus I have a Mexican wireless TelCel card as backup, so I'll probably play a bit. I usually don't play too much though and do some fun programming stuff instead. I'm working with a buddy on a new piece of software (non-poker related) that he's really excited about, so I'll probably spend some time on that, at least on the flights. I'm still tweaking my table opener/closer since playing just 1 more table at a time can increase my hourly quite a bit. I'm also working on my script to help me write even more notes (I write quite a few as it is). My computer has had some really serious malware on it for the past 2 months and I think I finally got it all cleaned up. My brokerage account got shut down twice as they detected malware trying to hack it. Not cool at all! I had to reformat my machine, which means re-installing everything back on it. That's the beat part, but at least now I've got a super fast machine again! I've also been playing more live poker at the local casinos to brush up for PCA. I'm stoked this year about it since I don't need to explore around the Atlantis anymore (my 3rd time) and I can play in some of the other NL events in addition to the main. I'm working on open up my MTT game and finding the balance between getting involved in more hands without becoming a spewtard or aggro-aggressive pump in dump player. I'd also love to play the shoot-out, but I think it's the last day and we will have left already. Anyways, only 1 month to go for all you SNE chasers, so keep the grinding dream alive! -PinPB
