I survived the BParty by Mark 'poker_in_pb' Vargas, Tue. 13 Oct 2009
We had a total blast in San Francisco for the bachelor party. 8 of us flew up from San Diego and met up with 7 guys from up there. Unfortunately, only 1 showed up for Friday night, but the entire crew was out on Saturday. We hit Chinatown for a great lunch, tons of drinks at various bars, but the highlight was probably the football game on Saturday. It was Fleet Week there, which basically means a free airshow over the bay. We were playing flag football at the Moscone Center, which is about 2 blocks away. A nice sunny day, slamming beers between plays, and watching the Blue Angels fly directly overhead made for perfect conditions. From there we walked over to my buddy Hayden's house party and got faded up on his deck and visited with some other non-bparty friends I hadn't seen in awhile. Then we made our way to Tommy's Tequilaria for a big dinner and margaritas. After dinner we hit a club until closing and then got the invite for an afterhours party, but it was a total dud so we made our way back to the hotel. All in all, a great weekend! Needless to say that on Sunday I didn't have the urge to play since I got into bed around 4.30am. I could barely put my shoes on or walk because of the football. At least I wasn't alone as most of my boys were equally hurting. We're all long distance runners by nature (we all met on the UCSD cross-country team) and our bodies aren't trained to go laterally, plus we're not getting any younger. On Monday I thought I was going to have to install a handrail next to the shitter since squatting was nearly impossible! I did play for 2 uneventful hours Monday evening, but played alot today to make up for it. I ran really hot, but my adjusted numbers were still in the red. I still think that I'm better than the Tuesday regs that play these higher stakes, but the data is starting to pile up that I can't win at these stakes. I guess it's not a big deal since it makes up such a small % of my play, but I'm so competetive that I can't stand knowing that I can't beat the higher stakes of my specialty game. I'm going to run Juk's program to find what his adjusted numbers are since my software can't compute for 3-way all-ins, and that's obviously a huge part of these SNGs. I'll try to dig up a few HH's to post tomorrow as well. PCA sats are running, so get out the sun-block! -PinPB
